- I bought a CD-ROM magazine available on the Australian market for $17.95
- yesterday and I have all the requirements (a 68040 powered "Mac" with at
- least 8Mb ram free etc).
-
- The mag is called this!Zine and is a dual format PC/Mac CD-ROM.
-
- I put it in the drive boot SS - a window opens with the folders and then
- when I enter any of the folders and double click on the README file for
- example and my CD-ROM drive just sits there making a sort of squeeling
- noise (the laser jittering backwards and forwards trying to find the track
- servo type noise) as if the disk is locked. The Window border isn't
- showing a locked disk or anything.
-
- DoomII and any other CD-ROM I throw at the drive is accessed (with Apples
- CD-ROM driver kit for the CD600 (v5.1) on a Texel/Plextor DM-5024 double
- spin with Apple CD300 emulation under ShapeShifter) as a normal Mac would
- do.
-
- The really wierd thing is that I can also access the HFS part of the disk
- on the Amiga side (not while SS is running) with several PD and Commercial
- Amiga CD-ROM drivers and they all exhibit the same behaviour. AmiCDROM
- filesystem which is truly excellent at accessing Mac formatted Cd-ROMs is
- exhibiting the exact same behaviour as the true Apple driver does.
-
- Has any other Australian or person with this disk (issue 0) experienced
- this? I am thinking of returning the disk to the publishers and asking for
- a refund, but I want to make sure it's not the emulation before I spak out
- on them.
-
- Thanks in Advance,
-
